Album: Lion Skin - Single
Band: Hands Like Houses
Release Date: Now Available
For Fans Of: At The Skylines, Woe Is Me, In Oceans
Rock. Xylophone at the beginning of the song. Why yes, I am talking about Canberra, Australia’s Hands Like Houses. One of the few bands that stands awkwardly in the scene in a good way. With only clean vocals, these guys are still leaving metalcore fans in awe. For those who have been following the band for a while may know them as “So Long Safety”. With a name change, the band has gained a new sound and thousands of fans from all over the world.
The song I will be discussing is called “Lion Skin” which features Tyler Carter (Former vocalist of Woe, Is Me) and Jonny Craig of Dance Gavin Dance. With two guest vocalists on one song, the band is surely calling for unneeded backup. Trenton Woodley, the band’s one and only vocalist handles this song with evident ease. When he belts the words “Through silent homes”, he leaves you hanging for a short moment before continuing to complete the memorable chorus. Later in the song, Tyler Carter assists Trenton with the bridge while Jonny Craig emphasizes key words such as “foreign houses”. The trio together are a remarkable and captivating team.
Hands Like Houses released “Lion Skin” as a follow-up to their acoustic version. As I have been listening to the band for just over a year now, I was curious how the full band version would sound. My expectations for the single were high. With no doubt, the song exceeded my expectations.
The band has recently finished their full-length, “Ground Dweller” at Chango Studios in Orlando, Florida. The band has confirmed that “Lion Skin” was re-recorded for the full length; however, no release date has been given yet.
They may be unsigned, but thousands of fans surely don’t mind.
